This Is How “Celebrate with Love, Share from the Heart” Was Lived: A Solidary Christmas at the Mercado de San Miguel

On Tuesday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m., the San Miguel Market became a great collective embrace, where music, gastronomy, and solidarity came together in a concert and charity campaign in support of the project “Inclusive Bakery for Boys and Girls with Disabilities” at the Nambika Home (Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India), promoted by the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation and its local partner TMSSS.

From the very beginning of the event, a special atmosphere could be felt: stalls decorated with Christmas lights, curious visitors, and families who came to enjoy a cultural and charitable experience. At 7:00 p.m., the scheduled concert began and was broadcast on the market’s screens so that the music could reach every corner of the venue. The performance was led by the Choir of Nuestra Señora del Recuerdo, whose carefully selected repertoire served as the guiding thread of an evening designed to share and bring people together.

The staging combined Christmas carols with pieces that connected deeply with the charitable spirit of the event. The audience responded with attentive silence and sustained applause; several performances sparked spontaneous ovations and created moments of collective reflection that truly marked the night.

At the same time, a “Fila 0” donation option remained open, allowing visitors to contribute on site. In addition, by purchasing raffle tickets, attendees were entered into a solidarity raffle featuring products donated by the different market stalls, an initiative that encouraged participation and strengthened the community spirit of the event.

The San Miguel Market stalls actively supported the initiative by informing their customers and facilitating both donations and participation in the raffle. Thanks to this collective involvement, funds were raised and fully allocated to the purchase of materials and supplies for the bakery workshop (flour, yeast, utensils, packaging, etc.), ensuring the continuity of the training program and improving the quality of the products made by the young people at the Nambika Home.

From the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation, project coordinators highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in guaranteeing technical training and employment opportunities for the adolescents at the Nambika Home. The bakery workshop not only teaches practical skills (kneading, baking, packaging, etc.) but also strengthens work habits, self-esteem, and social skills, with a direct impact on the lives of the beneficiaries and their families.

The San Miguel Market would like to thank everyone who attended, those who contributed through the Fila 0 and the solidarity raffle, the participating stalls, the concert organizers, and the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation and TMSSS for their ongoing work on the ground. Thanks to the combined support of all involved, the bakery training project takes another step toward consolidation.
