Flavours That Surprise: Oysters and Pistachios Come Together at Mercado de San Miguel

On 7 July, Mercado de San Miguel hosted a new gastronomic experience in collaboration with Ostras Sorlut, bringing together influencers, content creators and renowned figures from the culinary world to discover new ways of enjoying one of the sea’s most iconic delicacies.

During the event, guests attended an exclusive masterclass that showcased the remarkable versatility of oysters, proving that they can be paired with a wide variety of ingredients while preserving their unique flavour and character.

Chef Carlos Torre, founder of Pistachos LaLOLA, producers of premium-quality Spanish pistachios, presented a gastronomic proposal specially created to accompany Daniel Sorlut’s oysters. He prepared a variety of sauces and presentations, all showcasing pistachios as the star ingredient.

Among the tastings were pickled pistachios and caramelised (candied) pistachios, alongside other creative preparations that added new textures and flavour nuances without overpowering the delicate taste of the oysters. The goal was clear: to enhance the gastronomic experience while maintaining the perfect balance between both ingredients.

The good news for food lovers is that, from September onwards, these exclusive pistachio pairings will be available at the Ostras Sorlut stall in Mercado de San Miguel.

As in every edition, the event was hosted by Eva Rodrigo, founder of VAYRO, a marketing agency specialising in the food and hospitality sector, who once again guided guests through an inspiring day of flavour, creativity and culinary discovery.
